What Celebs Wore to the Emmy Awards 2012

I know it's a bit late, but I have missed the Fashion Friday blog hops for the past couple weeks.  So I thought tonight I would add this post to show you some of my favorite Emmy Awards fashions from this year's red carpet.   The show was on last week and unfortunately I missed seeing it live.  But I have seen some of the wonderful gowns from the red carpet online.  I noticed there were some more spring colors this year with yellow, lilac and light blue gowns. They were fun to see and here are my favorite picks from the 2012 show.

Julianne Moore looked great in yellow.

Tina Fey looked great again on the red carpet.

You know I love Dancing With the Stars so I had to include Julianne Hough in her pretty light blue gown. We miss her on DWTS!

Sofia Vergara looks so pretty in her turquoise gown and the jewelry matches perfectly.

I also like to watch Revenge while working out. So I had to include a picture of Emily VanCamp. She always looks great and this taupe color gown is so pretty on her, I also like the black clutch purse.  (I did miss Revenge this week but I'll catch the new episode and I'll be caught up soon).  I'm still trying to enjoy the warm weather outside as long as I can.

I was just watching My Girl on TV the other night so I had to include this picture of Anna Chlumsky.  She looks great with her matching clutch purse and I also love the ear rings with this gown.  It's so hard to believe she's all grown up!

I love this gown, the matching nail polish and the fancy shoes on Giuliana Rancic.  She always has wears such pretty clothes on the red carpet.

I just love this picture of Kelly Osbourne in a lilac gown, the matching hair color and the black clutch purse.  She looks great!

I hope you enjoyed my favorite picks for the Emmy Award fashions of 2012. Happy (late) Fashion Friday!

I'm going to link up (even thought I'm late) with Kori from Blonde Episodes for her Fashion Friday blog hop because I know many of you like to see her post and some of the others in the hop as well.  They are fun to check out.  Just click on the button below to check out Kori's post. And I think you may still have time too if you want to add a fashion post. Hope to see you there!

This week I'm attaching another great video from the series Reluctantly Healthy.  This episode is showing us how to make a healthy and easy walnut smoothie.  Aida Mollenkamp and Judy Greer are hosting this one and it looks like one I will be trying.  I love walnuts and all the other ingredients sound super good too.  I'm always looking for new and tasty smoothie recipes!

Product Review - COVERGIRL & Olay

I received a full size COVERGIRL & Olay Tone Rehab 2 in 1 Foundation and a COVERGIRL & Olay pressed powder to try out.  The color I received in the foundation was Soft Honey.  I liked the color as it blended well with my skin tone.  I liked the texture of the foundation because it felt almost like a moisturizer rather than a flaky, thick make up.  I wore it once while it was sprinkling outside and the water didn't ruin the look of my make up.  It beaded up and rolled off without making a noticeable streak on my face.  The pressed powder was also nice because it gave my face a finished look.  The combination of the two really gives your face a flawless look and feel.  It covers imperfections without looking like you painted your face. I also liked that it took a small amount to give my face the coverage I wanted.

To apply the foundation you follow these easy steps:

1. Wash your face thoroughly to remove oils and create a blank canvas.

2.  Put a small amount of foundation on a disposable sponge wedge or on your fingertips.

3.  Dot foundation onto your nose, cheeks and forehead.

4.  Use your fingertips to blend thoroughly, decreasing intensity towards the edge of your face.

5.  Not looking for full coverage? Apply only as needed, still blending with fingers.  Lightly dabbing will          remove excess foundation without smearing.

6.  Finish your look with a light layer of COVERGIRL & Olay Pressed Powder.  Use the  puff applicator to apply to your forehead and nose first, then move to the rest of your face and chin.

The price is also very reasonable.  It is available at all major retailers with a suggested price of $13.99.  To check out the other shade available and get more valuable tips visit:  covergirl.com.

I want to note that these products are not being advertised as a natural and organic. Both contain ingredients such as talc in the pressed powder and N-acetyl Glucosamine in the foundation that you may not want to have on your skin if you are looking to use more natural and organic products, or if you have any types of allergic reactions.  So you will want to read the labels first if you have any sensitivities.

Disclosure:  I received this sample of COVERGIRL & Olay Tone Rehab 2 in 1 Foundation and Pressed Powder to try as a BzzAgent along with some coupons as part of this campaign. However, my opinions expressed are my own, based on my personal experience with this product.

Tip of the Week - Jump Rope Workout

This week I'm adding another video from Reluctantly Healthy.  As you may know I've tried jump rope workouts a few times because I know they are great cardio workouts.  However, I never really had a planned workout for my jump rope and have just jumped as long as I could.  This workout will make a jump rope workout more fun.  Plus in this video Tanja Djelevic (a certified personal trainer) also shows us how to make sure our jump ropes are the right size for us. When the weather starts cooling off for Fall and Winter, this is a good alternative exercise we can do inside and still get a good cardio workout.

Tip of the Week - Making a Healthier French Toast

I'm really enjoying the web series Reluctantly Healthy.  In this episode host Judy Greer and guest Aida Mollenkamp share tips for making a healthier version of French Toast.  It looks so good.  I love learning how to make healthy versions of foods that normally would contain more unhealthy calories.

HLNB Fall Challenge I - Day 15

September 15th Day 15:
Exercise:
Yesterday I walked 2 miles and worked on my garden.

Build a strong core and arms with the suitcase walk.  Here's how you do it.
  • Hold a rather heavy size dumbbell in your right hand, between 15 and 30 pounds. You want to choose a dumbbell weight that will challenge your core, but also allow you to have good form when walking. Hold the hand weight to one side with a straight arm, just like you would hold a suitcase. Keep your shoulders even and your posture square.
  • Walk, carrying your dumbbell at your side, for 100 to 300 feet. If you don't have one long area to walk in, then walk a shorter distance, back and forth, to total the amount of feet you've chosen. Keep your spine straight and your abs engaged as you move with control. Don't swing the dumbbell mindlessly, but keep it at your side.
  • Then bend your knees to put the weight down and pick it up with your left hand. Walk the same distance.
  • Do this exercise once or twice on each side, envisioning the long lines at the airport.

Food:
I ate some strawberry and banana swirl toast, I also ate some homemade salsa, some homemade guacamole, some boiled and salted edamame,  some chicken and drank 100% fruit juices with two meals and water with lemon for dinner.

  Items to note:
See my contact information on the tabs above if you want to send me an email with any questions or suggestions.  With my "HLNB Challenge" I'm logging my daily activities of how I keep moving.  I'm not offering any medical advice or making any guarantees.  This is meant for fun and if you want to follow along I hope it will be fun and encouraging  for you too.  I'm also not logging everything I'm eating, only listing the healthier items. I'm trying to convert my family's food choices to more healthy options and fresh foods selections as well.  On days I'm listing more it means I'm replacing less healthy foods with healthier choices.  This is one of my personal healthy living goals. One day when I look back, I hope to see improvements on my activities and on my eating habits. Thanks for following along in the journey.
