HLNB Summer Challenge III - Day 5

August 5th Day 5:

Yesterday we decided to take a complete day of rest.  We went for a small hike, but not for exercise just for fun.  It was nice to have a day where you don't have to do anything!

See my contact information on the tabs above if you want to send me an email with any questions or suggestions.  With my "HLNB Challenge" I'm logging my daily activities of how I keep moving.  I'm not offering any medical advice or making any guarantees.  This is meant for fun and if you want to follow along I hope it will be fun and encouraging  for you too.  I'm also not logging everything I'm eating, only listing the healthier items. I'm trying to convert my family's food choices to more healthy options and fresh foods selections as well.  On days I'm listing more it means I'm replacing less healthy foods with healthier choices.  This is one of my personal healthy living goals. One day when I look back, I hope to see improvements on my activities and on my eating habits. Thanks for following along in the journey.

HLNB Summer Challenge III - Day 4

August 4th Day 4:

Yesterday we had a BBQ and had family over.  We had some homemade guacamole and homemade salsa.  But we did have some other foods and drinks that were not quite so healthy.  So it was a day of rest from the regular routine.

Tip of the Week - Green Cleaning Party Kit

Today I'm attaching some great organic recipes for cleaning your home.  These recipe cards are from the Women's Voices for the Earth website at:  www.womensvoices.org.  The great thing is that these recipes are better for the Earth, the environment and your wallet!  They are easy to make and use.  You won't have to worry about harsh chemicals and you will have a clean home.  Have you tried any of these recipes?  I've tried the All Purpose Cleaner (but without the essential oils, I will try some next time though) and the drain opener recipe.  I actually use the drain opener recipe from time to time to prevent any bad clogs in my bathroom drains.

Fashion Friday - Swimsuits

I saw a post on Facebook from Influenster asking which iconic bathing suits you like best and which ones you would wear. I thought it would be fun to post a few for Fashion Friday.  Which do you like best?  A more modern look or more vintage?  Which would you be more likely to wear?  I really like the vintage look and I think my favorites below are Marilyn Monroe's and Elizabeth Taylor's swimsuits.  I'd wear either one of those.  Check them out and tell us your favorite and which one(s) you'd be more likely to wear.

I included the Farrah Fawcett swimsuit because it was so popular back when she was one of Charlie's Angels.

Hope you enjoyed this week's look at swimsuits both vintage and modern.  No matter what your favorite choice, hope you are enjoying summer and getting to wear your favorite swimsuit. Happy Fashion Friday!

Bonus Post - Reboot Recipe Juice #1

For those who like making green smoothies or who juice on a regular basis, here is one of the recipes from Join the Reboot:

6 Kale leaves
1 Cucumber
4 Celery stalks
2 Green apples
1/2 Lemon
1 Piece of ginger

Blend in your juicer or high power blender. Then enjoy!

It's an easy recipe to make and could be one of your staple drinks.  The best part about juicing and making smoothies is that you can pretty much create your own drinks.  Use vegetables and fruits you personally enjoy.  That is part of what makes it fun.  You don't have to use the same recipe over and over.  There are so many out there and if you are using the freshest ingredients possible, you can't go wrong.  What have you got to lose?

Don't forget to follow Joe Cross on Twitter at @Joethejuicer  to get more tips from Joe Cross.

Disclosure:  I received a complimentary DVD of this movie as part of the BZZAgent program at BZZAgent.com.  My opinions are my own.

Product Review - Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead DVD

I recently received a complementary DVD of the documentary "Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead".  I had never heard of Joe Cross's story before and found this movie very inspiring.  Not only do you get to view Joe's personal journey to health and well being, but you also meet a few others along the way who give the juicing method a try.  It makes sense that eating (or drinking) healthy and fresh foods can have a positive effect on your body and your mind.

For HLNB readers, we have been drinking green smoothies in our 30 day challenges.  For the most part I started adding them to my family's diet because my husband doesn't like to eat "greens".  If I cook any green foods and add them to our meals, he won't touch them.  Once I started adding them to our green smoothies, he started getting the benefit of those wonderful leafy greens.

We have all heard the phrase "You are what you eat"  but most of us don't really think about what that means.  We take it for granted that as long as we eat to stop hunger, we will be fine.  But long term that may not necessarily be the case if we are making unhealthy choices.  Joe Cross used to work on Wall Street and made a good living.  Along with that he developed some convenient and poor eating habits. When you start watching the film, you see Joe  not only worrying about his weight but more importantly his health.  At such a young age he was taking strong medications and his future health outlook wasn't so bright.  That is how he began his journey.  Along the way we also meet a few others who are just as worried about their health.  A woman who suffered from migraines and a man who was also on the same track Joe was before he began juicing.  If you are looking for ways to make more healthy food choices, or just looking to start living a more balanced life with exercise and healthy foods, this movie will be very inspirational for you.  You too can watch this documentary for free at Reboot Your Life (jointhereboot.com).  Make it a family night and set some time aside to watch this one together.  It is interesting and might help inspire your whole family to begin a healthy living lifestyle.

It's never too late or too early to start living a more balanced life!  If you are already joining my 30 day challenges, this movie might inspire us to step it up a notch.  Working on a routine with others, can help you stay motivated and moving toward your goals.  I would encourage anyone who is doing HLNB 30 day challenges (or thinking about joining us on them) to watch this movie.  This is really what it's all about.  The message is a good one for us all.  Here's to our Healthy Living Natural Beauty lifestyles!
