Product Review - Kiss Nail Dress

This is the first time I've tried Kiss Nail Dress.  I'm glad I was given the chance to try them out because I ended up finding a great product to use in the future as well.  Not only will I be using them again myself, but I think these might make a good gift to give someone who loves their nails to look great.  The color/design I received was Cocktail which is a light and dark pink swirl with silver jeweled design on the light pink portions.

Cocktail is seen here, the pink design.

Also, seen here against a black clutch purse.

In the kit you receive 28 strips in a box which you can use on your hands or toes.  The extra strips can be cut into shapes to add to your nails for a unique, new design.  For example, you can paint your fingers a dark pink color and add a strip of Cocktail along the top to look like a fancy french manicure.

They are so easy to apply.  You first clean your nails, then pick the right size strip for each nail, fold over and file the excess off.  Mine lasted for about 13 days before they started peeling off.  Once they start to peel, you can easily pull them off without using nail polish remover or anything else. I love how easy they are to use and how fancy they make your nails look.  I will be trying new styles in the future and now with summer coming, these will be great to use on my toes when wearing sandals.  You use the square side of the strips for a perfect fit on your toes.

The package included a booklet with instructions that also show some examples of how to cut up your extras to make fancy designs for your nails.  It also comes with a mini nail file.  The suggested retail price is $6.99 and available in all major drug chains and mass retailers like Walmart, CVS and Walgreens.

You can check out Kiss Nail Dress to see all 18 designs and to watch videos that show you how easy they are to apply, cut designs and to use on your toes.  If you love taking care of your nails, you will love this product!

This product was received complimentary through the VoxBox product testing program at Influenster.  All opinions expressed are my own based on my experience with the product.

Fashion Friday - Premier of Titanic 3D in London

Are you going to be seeing "Titanic" in 3D next week?  I loved the movie the first time it came around in theaters and I will be one of the fans watching it in 3D as well.  It will add a new level of realism to the movie.  I'm a huge fan of the movie and can't wait to see it again.  This week, at the London premier we had Kate Winslet looking great and Suzy Amis Cameron wearing another great eco friendly gown (see my Fashion Friday post Red Carpet Green Dress for more information).

Kate Winslet in a black gown with crystal accents.

Frances Fisher wore a steel grey gown with a black coat and matching black purse.

Billy Zane was also at the premier in London with his girlfriend.

Bill Paxton and his wife were there too!

Suzy Amis Cameron wore a steel blue hemp silk gown by Jeff Garner of Prophetik. She is posing with her husband and director of the film James Cameron.

Suzy Amis Cameron,  James Cameron and Kate Winslet at the Titanic 3D premier in London earlier this week held at the Royal Albert Hall. We missed Leonardo DiCaprio, he was busy filming his next picture.  But at least we can see him again when we go see Titanic 3D!

Hope you enjoyed a look at the red carpet fashions of the Titanic 3D London premier.  Happy Fashion Friday!

Guest Post - Effective Home Remedies for Urinary Tract Infection

Today we are featuring another guest post from Edith Gordon about Urinary Tract Infection home remedies.  Edith's contact information is located in her bio at the end of the article.  Please feel free to contact her with questions or leave her a comment after the article.

Effective Home Remedies for Urinary Tract Infection

UTI or Urinary Tract Infection, commonly called bladder infection, is often caused by E. coli bacteria.  In general, UTI involves the kidneys, ureters, and the bladder or urethra.  The infection typically only spreads in the lower urinary tract – the bladder.

Women are more prone to UTI compared to men because they have shorter and more exposed urethras which allow the germs to quickly enter their bladders.

People who can easily be infected with UTI are those who do not drink an ample amount of water, diabetics, and pregnant women.

Common Signs and Symptoms of Urinary Tract Infection

·         Pain and a burning sensation every time you urinate.

·         Recurring fever and chills.

·         You often feel the urgency to urinate but only a small amount of urine comes out when you visit the restroom.

·         Your belly becomes tender and heavy.

·         Your urine discharge is cloudy and has an unpleasant odor.

·         You experience nausea and vomiting.

·         You experience lower back pains.

Proven Effective Home Remedies for Urinary Tract Infection

Taking antibiotics is the most common way of killing the germs which cause the infection in your bladder.  Below are some alternatives or home-remedies which could help you get rid of UTI and relieve yourself from the pain it causes.

Make use of baking soda – Mix ½ tablespoon of baking soda into an 8-ounce glass of water.  Drink this if you notice any signs or symptoms of UTI.   The baking soda helps balance the amount of acidic urine in your system.

Drink lots of water – This is the very basic way to help your system get rid of unwanted substances by flushing the germs away. Water therapy is very beneficial to your body because it has vitamins and minerals that help your immune system fight off the infection.

Try fresh cranberry juice – This is the most commonly used home-remedy to treat bladder infection both in men and women.  The fresh cranberry juice has a component that disables bacteria to cling the cells in your urinary tract.

Try aromatherapy – This is a simple home-remedy to get rid of the pain caused by UTI and can also reduce the occurrence of its symptoms.  Make use of sandalwood, bergamot, tea tree, frankincense and juniper in preparing for your oil and rub it over your belly or bladder area.

Other recommended home-remedies for UTI treatment are Echinacea and Tincture.

Guest Post - Proven and Effective Home Remedies for Hip Pain

Today we are featuring a guest post from Edith Gordon.  Her article about home remedies for hip pain is interesting and if you have had issues with hip pain, maybe this article can offer you some good pointers.  Edith's contact information is located in her bio at the end of the article.  Please feel free to contact her with questions or leave her a comment after the article.

Proven and Effective Home Remedies for Hip Pain

The most common cause of hip pain among middle-aged people is osteoarthritis.  According to Livestrong.com, osteoporosis is the breakdown of cartilage in the joint, which results in the formation of bone spurs, or humps of bone in the joint.  Other causes of hip pain are due to degenerative diseases and common injuries.

Signs and Symptoms

In most cases, the real hip pain occurs in the groin and then travels down to the thigh region.  People who suffer from hip pain experience restricted movements as well as limitation and interference in their daily activities (i.e. a simple activities like walking becomes tedious and difficult to execute).   There are hip problems that cause pain which are difficult to diagnose.  This becomes one of the main culprits that inflict stress and limits the capabilities of affected people in doing their normal day to day activities.

Effective Home Remedies for Hip Pain

Hip pain is truly debilitating, and though there are products in the pharmacy that can help you relieve the pain, there are also home remedies and tips that can also help you deal with it.  Below are some proven and effective home care tips to relieve the pain in your hips.

·         One of the simplest ways in avoiding and relieving your body from the agony of hip pain is by getting enough rest.  Learn to avoid activities than can trigger stress in your lower back to prevent the pain from recurring.  If you have a very fast-paced lifestyle, always take time to rest every time you are feeling the tension caused by the activities you are doing.

·         If you are already in pain, the most available home remedy you can use to relieve yourself is an ice pack.  Apply it on the area where you experience the most pain.

·         Use thick bandage like Ace bandage to wrap around your pelvis and hip to lessen the pain.

·         To lessen the pain in your hip, elevate your lower back and try to recline your feet up.

·         Stretch your lower back muscles to prevent hip pain but don’t overdo it.  Stretching can prevent and relieve hip pain by lessening the stress in your joints and muscles.

·         Try doing exercises that increase your joint’s range of motion and strengthen the muscles around your hips.

·         Exercises like walking (in a shallow pool or on a flat surface), swimming, bike riding, yoga, and yoga are suitable for people who have hip pain.

You should also remember to avoid physical activities like running, exercises that keep your leg away from your body, squatting, and heavy weights lifting when you are experiencing pain around your hips.

If the home remedies above don’t work and you still experience severe hip pain, you should contact your doctor immediately to avoid serious health complications that could arise due to hip problems.

Tip of the Week - Guided Visualization

This week I'm attaching a video from Self Magazine for Guided Visualization. It's a great way to relax and start your day feeling calm and comfortable.  It's a 3 minute video to help you release tension and stress.  If you feel you need to help calm yourself down or if you would just like to relax a little bit, this is a great video for you.  One good tip is to enlarge the video so it covers your full screen, that makes the experience even more relaxing and fun.  If you don't think it will help for rest and relaxation or calmness, it's still a great video of the ocean at sunset.  I like watching it for that reason alone!

Note:  You can turn off my blog music on the right hand side with the mini Ipod before watching the video.
