How to Train Your Pet Effectively in Six Steps
Training your pet can be a rewarding and frustrating experience.
It all depends on how you approach it. Each animal requires specific training
needs and yet they all need the same basic structure. You must be loving and
firm. They must learn obedience through patience, commitment, scheduling,
respect, loyalty, rewards, and love. Let’s start with the first step.
1. Patience and Commitment
This is for you and your pet. You must have the patience and commitment to your pet before you can expect them to learn it from you. They are going to be learning from you every step of the way. You have to be willing to work with them over and over again until they start to understand. For example, if you are training a dog to use the bathroom, you will need to designate an area that will be used for them to go. You should take your dog to the bathroom every 45 minutes to an hour. You should also create a similar area for your dog while they are confined so he/she will associate that same area with using the bathroom. There will be accidents regardless. You must be firm yet loving and repeatedly teach them what areas are alright and which are not. This will take some time. It can be frustrating but overall remember patience and commitment.
2. Scheduling and Routines
Your pet's bathroom needs are not the only thing that needs a routine or schedule. By scheduling your pets feeding times and paying attention to when they need to use the bathroom will help yourself and your pet train easier. Even as a human, keeping a schedule and routine can help you feel that things are in order and will get accomplished easier. If your pet knows what you expect out of them, they are more likely to comply with the command.
3. Respect

3. Respect
When you train your pet respect, they will learn to give it back to you. Training an animal by threatening them will only make them afraid, timid and possibly angry. This is not what you want from your pet. Using respectful and firm commands will have your pet trained in a proper amount of time.
4. Reward System
Using a reward system is one of the most effective ways to train your pet. Rewarding them for positive behavior encourages them to continue this good behavior and makes them feel proud of themselves.
5. Self-Control
You must exhibit self-control and teach your pet the same. Crate training a puppy is a good example. While they are in the crate, they are less likely to have an accident since it is their own space. Each time you place them in the crate increases the amount of time they are in there and they will learn to control their bladder. This is teaching them self- control.
6. Loyalty and Love
If you put the effort and love into your pet then you will receive this back. Dogs can be one of the most loyal pets you will ever have. You must keep up with your training and follow through so that your pet will learn to be loyal and obey you. Show them that you are the pack leader and they will follow your commands. They need affection too, so showing them love will enforce their positive behavior.
Your pet can be your most loyal companion so stay patient, committed, respectful and loving so you will receive these in return. Always remember these things will take time and there is no quick fix for training your pet.
